  • The right to a Plan of Care designed to meet their needs
  • The right to appropriate nutrition
  • The right to regular medical and dental care
  • The right to an appropriate education
  • The right to participate in recreational and athletic activities
  • The right to be informed of the day to day house rules in the foster homes
  • The right to be informed of their rights and of the internal complaint procedure
  • The right to be informed about the office of the Child and Family Services Advocate
  • The right to receive instruction
  • The right to be protected from physical punishment
  • The right to be protected from detention in locked premises (unless ordered by the court)
  • The right to regular visits with family
  • The right to be allowed visits from and speak privately with legal counsel and to receive mail from legal counsel that is not read by anyone but the child
  • The right to reasonable privacy and possession of personal property
  • The right to send and receive mail that is not read, examined or censored except in those cases when Tikinagan believes there are reasonable grounds to believe that the contents may cause the child physical or emotional harm
