Long-time employee celebrates retirement

Posted: May 2nd, 2017

Congratulations and best wishes to Jessie Day, who retired from Tikinagan Child and Family Services on April 28, 2017.

Jessie lives in Sandy Lake and started with Tikinagan as a Foster Care Worker in 2001. Over the last 16 years, she has worked as an Intake/Investigation Worker and Family Services Worker. She has served many communities over the years, but most recently served Deer Lake and North Spirit Lake.

“Jessie was a valued member of the Tikinagan family and will be missed by everyone she worked with. We wish her only the best for the next part of her life’s journey,” says Thelma Morris, Executive Director.

Before Jessie’s last day, she sent a gracious message to her co-workers and expressed how she will miss everyone.

“I have enjoyed working for Tikinagan and made a lot of good friends whom I will miss. We have shared a lot of laughs, a lot of tears and a sense of comradeship. I wish each and every one of you the best of luck as you continue your own journey within the Agency,” Jessie wrote.

“All of you are special people as the responsibilities are often difficult and heavy. However, remember that we work for the children as they are our future and there is a need to build a stronger and firmer foundation for them, to be proud of their heritage and where they have come from. You all have a special place in my thoughts and heart,” she added.

To honour Jessie’s years of service, staff and supervisors held a luncheon in Deer Lake during her last week of work and presented her with a quilt.
