Tikinagan provides family support and intervention services for families who are experiencing difficulties, and works to help these families find the resources needed to overcome their difficulties. Whenever possible, we work to help children and families stay together, and to help parents care for their children.
Tikinagan has developed a prevention and support framework, called Mamow Oshki Pimagihowin which means "working together to learn new life skills," Community-based Prevention Coordinators work in partnership with local service providers and First Nation leadership to identify program needs and priorities.
In response to these priorities, local programs are developed such as parenting education, youth activity programs, and family support, healing and reintegration. The programs are developed and delivered in close collaboration with First Nations' Chiefs and Councils, Elders, parents, youth, and community resources.
Tikinagan provides as much assistance as possible to communities requesting services such as workshops, community education, and community-wide strategic approaches to work towards healthy families.
