Invitation to Indigenous Youth- Strategic Planning Session

Posted: November 8th, 2018

Help shape Tikinagan’s future

Tikinagan Child and Family Services is working on its next strategic plan and we want to hear from you! We need to tap into your experiences, your knowledge and your ideas about how Tikinagan can provide the best possible services for you and other youth.

What is strategic planning? Very simply, it helps organizations to look at where it wants to be in the future and in making a plan to get there. Strategic planning tries to answer the following questions:

  • Where are we now? (My Tikinagan is…)
  • Where do we want to be? (My Tikinagan in five years…)
  • How will we get there? (What do we need to do more of? Less of?)
  • How will we know when we've arrived? (Our success indicators…)

We invite you to come to a gathering just for youth to talk about Tikinagan. So far, we have three (3) gatherings scheduled in Sioux Lookout for the weeks of November 12th and November 19th:

  • Tuesday, November 13th: 6 to 8 PM
  • Wednesday, November 14th: 6 to 8 PM
  • Monday, November 19th: 4 to 6 PM

The gatherings will be held at the Tikinagan Training Centre at 60½ Front Street and pizza is on the menu!

Youth residing outside of the Sioux Lookout area will have opportunities to participate in other locations including several of our remote communities. Stay tuned for these places and dates.

In order to plan for our time together, we ask you to pre-register. Please contact Amanda Kakekaspan at or Lillianna Barkman at or call either of them at 737-3466 to reserve your space on the date and time of your choice, or, if you have a Tikinagan worker, ask them to register you.

Note: If you know of another youth that may enjoy participating, please encourage them to register to attend.

If you have any questions about our strategic planning, please contact Anne Morgan at or call her at (807) 737-3466/1-800-465-3624.
